If you appreciate nice things and great quality then the Miyanaga Furniture Chisel is for you. Hand made in Japan by Mr. Miyanga. This chisel is made from Yasuki Blue Steel for the cutting edge and Kamaji wrought iron(pre 1883) for the body. This is a stout chisel. The blade is thicker than most other Japanese chisels adding stability. The term "furniture chisel" refers to the flattened shank which allows for more depth of cut. This means that you can cut deeper or use the chisel in a paring fashion without the shank getting in the way, techniques often used in building furniture. The handle is unique in that it is turned from the center of a Japanese White Oak branch. If you look at the hoop end of the chisel you will see the concentric growth rings. This just adds strength and longevity. 8 3/4" overall length with a 2 1/2"blade length.
